I’ve developed an enjoyable habit of drawing shoes at breakfast

We went to Cardiff for the weekend, for an old friend’s wedding. We were lucky to have beautiful blue skies when we went for a walk around the Bay the day after; we visited the National Assembly, The Senedd. It was designed by architect firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. It’s a superb building open to visitors, the circular debating chamber which lies at the heart of the building houses the full meeting of all 60 Assembly Members under a spectacular funnel which hangs from the roof… you can stand at the glass and watch what’s going on inside!

I took a trip to the Manchester Art Gallery, to view the work of Lauren Child. She’s best known for her illustrations for popular children’s books Lola and Charlie. Little known fact: she spent many an hour painting dots for Mr Damien Hirst for money before she was lucky enough to earn solely as an illustrator.
What a great day to drive to Derbyshire.
But we ate teacakes, not tarts… so we tarted later in the week.

Heir Hunters and diet ginger ale keep my creative mind so active on a weekday morning.

The Ten Commandments of Typography, by Paul Felton
…you’ve got to learn them first…
I’m learning that in design, as in life, it’s best to learn how to do things properly. Much to my delight, my library is open all summer long and you can keep hold of your little treasures until September!! My bookshelf remains truly satisfied although my backpack is suffering…
I read this little guy on the bus. It’s written from both ends of the book, with the rules on one side and how to break them on the other.
